Incredible sunsets
The evening show comes to you
Our camp sits among the hills facing the sunset. Each evening the sky over the Petra mountains turns gold, then red and violet, and the sandstone glows as the light drops.
Find a seat on the terrace or by the lounge windows with a glass of tea, and watch the landscape change colour minute by minute.

An evening at camp
From golden hour to starlight

Golden hour
Warm light rakes across the hills and the tents, the best time for photographs.

Dusk
Blue and pink skies fade over the mountains while dinner is served inside.

Night
Lamps glow along the stone paths and the camp settles into a peaceful quiet.
After dark
Stargazing
Away from the lights of town, evenings at the camp are calm and dark. On clear nights the sky fills with stars, so step outside, or watch from the terrace wrapped in a warm blanket.
- Nights in the Petra highlands can be cold, especially in winter, so bring a warm layer
- The fewer the clouds and the smaller the moon, the more stars you will see
- Give your eyes 15–20 minutes to adjust to the dark

Photography
Tips for sunset photos
- Arrive back at camp about an hour before sunset to catch the golden light
- Frame the tents and stone paths against the mountains for a sense of place
- Keep shooting after the sun sets, because the best colour often comes 10–20 minutes later
